Oriental Rug Cleaning

Oriental Rug Cleaning is an important step in maintaining this sizable investment to your home or business. The key to maintenance is regular maintenance, spot cleaning and professional oriental rug cleaning. In some situations, the rugs can be cleaned at your location, but many require pickup, cleaning and drying in our facility, and delivery back to your location.

To check to see if oriental rug cleaning is needed, here are a couple of methods you can use:

Pick up a corner of the rug and while holding it, kick the back of the rug with your foot or a blunt object that won’t do damage to the backing. If a cloud of dirt flies out of the pile, the rug is dirty and needs cleaning. Some dust and fibers are normal, but you will know when it is too much.

You can also rub the pile back and forth with your hand or towel 10 to 15 seconds. Look at your hands or the towel. If you see dirt the rug needs cleaning.

With the pile of the rug facing up fold part of the rug back upon itself so that the pile opens along a line where you can see close to the backing. Look down into the base of the pile at the foundation of the rug. It’s not unusual to see an accumulation of dirt deep in the pile where a vacuum cleaner cannot reach it. Again, the rug needs cleaning. Regular oriental rug cleaning will significantly increase the life of your area rugs.  Click here for additional information about the care and maintenance recommendations for oriental rug cleaning.

While a professional clean is recommended annually, be sure to vacuum the carpet yourself at least monthly.  Consider these tips when vacuuming:

TIP #1

Vacuum the back of the rug once a month to preserve its quality.

TIP #2

Do not run a vacuum with a power or beater brush over fringes. The power brush shreds the fringes, as they can be damaged by the rotating brush.
